The switch to remote working caused by COVID-19 has been a boon for those supplying monitoring technologies, as organisations look to monitor productivity and attendance.

The remote-working environment lends itself to massive data collection, from log-in-and-off records, to keystroke measuring and screen-grabbing, but just because the technology is out there do do these things does not mean that organisations have a right to implement it unilaterally. As this short piece on BBC's Click shows, there are a number of challenges to overcome to ensure that monitoring of employees working remotely is lawful.

One of the key areas of interest in the piece (and no its not my cameo!) is the differences in regulatory approach between the US and the EU which any organisation with US and EU operations must consider before implementing any new technology to monitor its workforce.
