UK foreign secretary Dominic Raab is expected to release a list of names of individuals who will face visa bans and asset freezes for alleged human rights abuses under the UK's new post-Brexit sanctions powers. This is expected to include Russian and Saudi nationals.

The sanctions will come into force immediately - represented the first large divergence in UK and EU sanctions restrictions. Companies operating in the EU and UK should ensure they have policies and procedures to comply with all applicable sanctions and screen against UK as well as EU lists.
